Camels and Rory!

Hello!

Well, I finally saw a camel on the beach! Went to a beach at JBR and turned around at one point and saw two camels just hanging out. Of course I had to go and pet them and take a few photos. But, I’m saving my camel ride for the desert!

I recently started taking golf lessons at a golf course here called Meydan. You can see the Burj from the driving range and when the sun is setting it’s beautiful. I’ve really enjoyed it and hope to keep up with the lessons. Maybe I’ll be able to show my dad and brother a thing or two in the future! This past weekend I went to Jumeriah Golf Estates to watch the DP World Championship. I made sure to get to the course in time to see Rory and what do you know, but the moment we walk up he’s practicing his putting. We watched him tee off on the 1st and 2nd hole. Then stayed and watched a few other’s go through the 2nd before we went back to the 8th and 9th to continue watching Rory. We eventually went to the 17th and enjoyed some drinks at Left Bank (a bar that overlooks the 17th hole). It was a great time and I’m hoping to go to the Desert Classic in February.

School has been going well. We recently had United Nations Day in the Elementary school.  The students wear the traditional clothing of their country or colors of their countries flag. We then have a big parade where students walk around the track with others from their country and the countries flag. It was an absolutely amazing site to see how many different countries are represented at DAA. Not to mention, it was RAINING during the parade! I recently just finished the report card process for the 1st trimester and I have to say it was one of the most time consuming processes I’ve ever had to do as a teacher. Hopefully the next go around won’t seem so overwhelming!

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I can’t begin to imagine what it’s going to feel like not spending it with my family. But, Wednesday night I will be having a big “family” meal with a bunch of the ES teachers and then I will be heading to Ras al-Khaimah also known as RAK which is another emirate in the UAE. A bunch of us are staying at a resort and it will be nice to relax after doing reports for so long! It will be a very different Thanksgiving, but spending it beach and pool side might not be so bad!

Before you know it I will be home for Christmas. I head to Budapest on the 1st, have two weeks of school, and then I’m home on the 18th! I couldn’t be more excited to see everyone. So, Happy Thanksgiving y’all and see everyone soon!
