I finally have internet!!

#bestfeelingever

Hello from Dubai!  I’m sorry there haven’t been any updates yet, but I just got my Visa back and I couldn’t get internet in my apartment until I had it.  I have a lot to fill you in on!  When I finally arrived I was met by the Marabah which means “welcome” in Arabic.  It was wonderful because the Dubai airport is huge and very confusing!  He did everything for me!   I was driven to my apartment which is in Al Barsha.  Al Barsha is basically like Henrico Co. within Richmond.  I’m a 3 min. walk away from my school and can see the Burj Al Arab (the building that looks like a sail) and downtown Dubai on my walk.  On really humid days or during a sand storm you can see nothing!  We had a sand storm a couple of week ago that lasted two days and people said this is like the “seasons” changing here and now it’s going to start cooling down….that has not happened yet!  So far, one of my favorite things is the food!  Everything I’ve eaten has been delicious, especially the Shawarma.  Another favorite is the people I’m working with.  They’ve become fast friends and have been so welcoming and friendly which has made it easier to be so far away!   Our first holiday is this coming Tuesday which is the Eid Al Adha.  The holiday honors the willingness of Abrahan to sacrifice his son. One tradition is to give Lamb to the less fortunate.  Since we have 3 days off from school I have booked my first trip and will be heading to Nepal.  I will update you all on this next adventure when I return.  I’ve added some pictures below of my drive in when I first arrived, my apartment complex called Rabwah, and of course Shawarma.  Miss everyone! xoxox
